The American School of Doha (ASD), Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) and HSBC formed a partnership to start an awareness campaign activating local and regional thoughts on processes to think and act more environmentally friendly.
During the two day symposium, held on the 23rd and 24th of November at ASD and Qatar Foundation, the audience had the opportunity to listen to specialists in fields of environmental education and service learning.
10 local schools and 7 schools visiting from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Hong Kong were treated to presentations by Kim White, Kenney Peavey and Judy Hallinen. The three experts were very enthusiastic to share their international knowledge to ensure that all delegates had something to take home and make environmental service a reality in their own communities.
HSBC contributed with a presentation about the impact of individual carbon footprints and how to minimize the effects with an adjusted lifestyle. The topics for the second day (hosted by ROTA and held at Qatar Foundation) included service learning, ROTA's Knowledge Network, past project's discussions and getting the schools together to collaborate on creating measurable goals.
